He argued specifically that Aristotelian metaphysics, the Pythagorean theorem, the concept of pi, Platonic cosmogony, and other commonly believed Greek creations actually were developed in ancient Egypt. “Consequently, no thought, no ideology is, in essence, foreign to Africa, which was their birthplace.

my heart by Lizz Wright

my heart by Lizz Wright

Lizz Wright

Lizz Wright

"There is no one torturing you except yourself.
Gordon Parks’s compelling photograph of Bessie Fontenelle and her youngest son Richard, Jr., was published by Life magazine on March 8, 1968, as part of a special feature on blacks and poverty called A Harlem Family (or At the Poverty Board). Parks’s essay and twenty-five photographs vividly depict the hardships of a Harlem family living under deplorable conditions. Taken shortly after Bessie violently retaliated against her husband’s abuse, this image, which appears on the opening spread, captures both her love for her son and her deep frustration and exhaustion—the dichotomy of a life torn between hope and despair. Her sadness is tempered by her child’s wide-eyed innocence. The article begins with this admonition: “What I want/What I am/What you force me to be/is what you are,” suggesting that we are all part of one global family. Sadly, only young Richard survived the family’s hardships and grew up to escape poverty.

Colonialism is the establishment, maintenance, acquisition and expansion of colonies in one territory by people from another territory. Colonialism is a process whereby sovereignty over the colony is claimed by the metropole and the social structure, government, and economics of the colony are changed by colonists - people from the metropole. Colonialism is a set of unequal relationships: between the metropole and the colony, and between the colonists and the indigenous population.

But I do need a man who understands what womanhood is
And the love binding struggle that we as black woman experience
When dealing with men who are disconnected from their roots
And have replaced Creativity, Originality, and Sensuality with a dull shine.

Take that knowledge
And feed it to those who are thirsty for wisdom

Take that wisdom
And feed it to those who are capable of creating a new blue print for society
With their dreams & aspirations

Allow this circle to continue…

Love us with an admiration for our strength
And recognize the significance of our existence
Admit your need for us
And express to us how much you hurt without your backbone

And when we fall
Catch us
Catch us with 2 arms
Because we recognize your strength too!

Ask questions & seek answers from us
Climb into our ears and listen to the things we say
And appreciate the strength in our opinions
Even if it is about anything and everything

How Do You Love a Black Woman?
By finding the courage to stop playing games that you should have left behind years ago
By separating yourselves from other men
In order to become your own man
And allowing yourselves to discover your own definition of manhood and what it really means

Connect yourselves to your present day realities and re-evaluate how you feel about

Respect. Love. Loyalty.

Love us with respect for our bodies
Starting from the inside out

Adore the little things that make us who we are
Such as our
Strong cheek bones, variations of our chocolate tones, textured hair, and thick lips
We don’t expect you to read our minds
But once inside, pay attention to our sensitive areas
And acknowledge intimate moments as another form of communication
A combination not to be interrupted

Hold us tight
With 2 arms
And indulge yourselves in the sweetness that we have to offer you
Satisfy your craving with our never-ending love
And cherish the thought of two individuals
Coming together to become one with each other
One mind
And one soul

Yours Truly,

Your Black Woman
